Strong running and great driving (just completed a trouble-free 300 mile trip) 1971 Chevrolet K10 4X4 half-ton long bed pickup truck with the Holy Grail running gear combo (newer small block 350, SM465 4 speed manual trans, NP205 transfer case, Dana 44 front & 12 Bolt rear diffs) and power steering and power brakes. I would not hesitate to drive it cross-country today. It starts right up, accelerates, shifts smoothly, tracks straight, turns and stops exactly as it should. Four wheel drive system works great as well. Tires have good tread but are cracking due to age. In my opinion, the excellent condition of the engine, running gear, suspension, and frame represent this truck's greatest strength. The interior is in very good condition. The dash has minimal cutting (around radio only) and very few additional holes drilled; all easily fixable. Dash pad is severely cracked and should be replaced. Passenger window handle is stripped so it's difficult to roll up. Heater blower motor is inoperative. Speedometer, odometer, and all gauges other than fuel work. All running and driving lights work. Ignition switch is loose but works fine. The biggest issue with this truck is the typical vintage Chevy truck rust. It's all repairable (I've certainly seen much worse) and all panels are available inexpensively. The bed is in surprisingly good shape with minimal rust (previously repaired) around the fenderwells. Floorboards, rockers, cab corners, and lower door skins all need love. Please look closely at my additional pictures. I've coated all exposed areas with a rust converter so it will not spread further. The bones of this truck are awesome. It's only real issues are with the body and they're all fixable. If you are in a dry climate you could just leave it the way it is and enjoy it. It's a great driver as it sits. Or take it to the next level. Just my two cents. 1972 Chevy K-10 4x4 Shortbed Pickup Truck – Originally from Southwest U.S. I am the 4th owner of this truck. The history of the truck as I know is as follows: Original Owner – Purchased in 1972 and sold to 2nd Owner on January 9, 1975. 2nd Owner sold it to 3rd Owner on March 10, 2015. (2nd and 3rd Owners were good friends.) As the 4th Owner I purchased the truck in June of this year and had it shipped from Phoenix to Fort Wayne, Indiana. · First Owner – 1972-1975 (3 Years) · Second Owner – 1975-2015 (40 years) · Third Owner (3 Months) · Fourth Owner (5 Months) · (Transfer title from Arizona from 2nd to 3rd Owner comes with truck showing dates above.) Odometer reads 04380 – but actual mileage is unknown. The truck had a truck cap on it most of its life as well, so the bed is in very good shape. The interior is new. The dash pad is original and looks good. It only has two small tears in it each about the size of a pea. All gauges work. Replaced the rubber floor mat, and replaced the thresholds with stainless steel ones. New glovebox, New radio antenna, New cardboard shield behind the seat (in front of the gas tank), New door panels, (original ones come with truck), New reupholstered seat. New front and rear brakes and bled the system. New distributor cap, rotor button, and coil. The truck starts on the first or second try and idles smoothly. The truck does have a few small drip leaks that show up after being parked. It does not smoke when started. Comes with overhaul and service manuals on CD, new door hinge pins and a new right outer tie rod end that goes with the truck. The truck does show evidence of being painted multiple times as you can see in the pictures. It looks like it was not sanded down before repainting. The truck also has body filler and a few bubbles in it in a few areas – the rocker panels, the floor pan at the forward part of the rocker panels, the driver side cab corner, at the back of the cab near the gas cap. It also looks like the front bumper hit something lightly, but it came back and cut into the front fenders a little. There are also a few dents and dings around the truck as can be seen in the pictures. Lastly, there are a few small rock chips in the windshield (all glass looks original – tinted from factory). Overall the truck is very straight and drives straight down the road. Chevrolet only made 6,069 short bed fleetside 4 wheel drive (4x4) trucks with the 6.5’ bed, so there are not too many of these still around. This one is a Custom model, and it has power steering, power brakes, and air conditioning (A/C). Air conditioning currently does not work. The system has been discharged, but all parts are intact and installed on the truck. The 4 wheel drive works well and is very strong. The truck also has duel saddle fuel tanks. $500 deposit due via PayPal. Balance due within ten (10) days of end of auction via cashier’s check, money order, or cash. It looks as if the original paint color was white. Truck is in good running condition. Good engine and Automatic Transmission. I have to sell ALL of my project trucks and I have 2 more left, which includes this one and a 1972 GMC with straight body that I’m building with a racing engine. I have already sold 3 of them. VIN# CE248Z104684 Body:Color is “Intense Blue Pearl (PB3)”. The body is in good condition with poor and chipped paint. All panels are straight except for the driver side door and the rear truck bed, near the reflector. Both doors and tailgate open and close good from inside and outside. Rear bumper & wheels are painted. Very little rust, just surface rust. Only major rust is rocker panel on passenger side. Pictures are accurate. Underneath truck looks good. Glass: All glass is good and both windows crank up & down ok and they seal correctly. Engine & transmission: Engine Runs great, very strong. Starts quickly. I had a mechanic adjust the carb. correctly to factory specs. No air-conditioning as it has been removed by the previous owner. Battery is a little weak. The automatic transmission works good. New radiator hose. All hoses and belt were checked and are good. Interior: Interior has a "Diamond Tuck and Roll” on roof & doors. I took the interior apart and cleaned everything including inside the dashboard. It has bucket seats from a newer vehicle as you see in the photos and these seats were scrubbed & cleaned. Has New dash pad and rubber brake pedal. There is no radio. Climate control does not work and there are no vent hoses. I do have the (2) AC vent balls brand new. Also, I have a brand new gas pedal uninstalled. Suspension: Suspension is Very nice and firm. Truck has coil springs in the rear INSTEAD OF LEAF SPRINGS, which is desired. The rear suspension has COILS, which are most desired. Tires are ok with ok tread. Suspension is very firm while driving. Headlights work fine and turn signals work fine.
