68 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible, Clean original car + hundreds of parts Up for sale is a very solid example of a 68 Barracuda convertible with the 318 auto, and Factory a/c. 92,526 BOX A miles! Blue on blue with a new white top. New blue carpet with car. The original 318 and 904 transmission operate well, and drive nicely. The 318 was recently removed, cleaned, and resealed, and upgraded with an Edelbrock Performer intake, and Edelbrock 4 bbl carburetor (still have original intake and 2bbl). During this, the engine compartment was cleaned, and re-sprayed in the original blue. No rust or damage repair was needed, it was a simple scuff and shoot... the firewall is original paint. The undercarriage of the car is extremely clean, and solid. The front end was recently rebuilt, and received a disc brake conversion. The rear end is an 8-3/4" with a new center section of unknown gearing (might be on storage case where the unit came in... the original center carrier is stored in here). The rear also has new leaf springs. The body of the car is in very nice shape, appearing to have only been repainted once. The paint would buff out and look very presentable as is, or would take minimal work to re-spray. There is no body damage at all, with only a little rust blistering in one rocker panel, and some behind the rear window, both simple repairs. The bucket seat interior has new front seat upholstery (driver's installed, passenger seat in process), with the rear seat upholstery included ready to install. The column shift has been upgraded to a floor shifter and console. A new white top is currently in process and will be installed within a few days. The hydraulic hoses were just replaced, and the top works well. Now onto the spare parts! This car comes with tons of spare, and new parts to make a perfect restoration. Just some of the spare parts include: -Mint grilles and trim restored, and ready to install -Excellent rocker moldings/gills -Extra Formula S hood + extra inserts -Many extra dashes/gauges and radios -Many extra A/C evaporator boxes -New seat covers (fronts being installed) -New carpet set (being installed) -New door panels (standard and deluxe) -New convertible top and well liner installed -Park lamp assemblies -Several extra taillights and lenses -2 sets of extra headrests -Carter AVS carburetors -New headers (no name) -Trunk upper and lower trim, perfectly restored! It still has its character and patina. This is the condition that I like to find a car in. It is impossible to know what a fully restored car was like before the resto. A full resto wipes away the history of the car. A car like this shows that it was a loved car and has never been abused and stripped out or worse. The original owner cleaned the car up by having it repainted the factory color and detailing the engine compartment. The quality of the detailing is not national show level. There are imperfections. For example, the car was Z barted when new, which helped keep this car from rusting. Some of the coating was left in the engine compartment when it was painted. Someone may look at it and think that it is just factory sealer which is supposed to be painted over but it is not. The air cleaner was painted gloss black instead of wrinkle finish. small ding on tip of fender.The paint on the body is what I would describe as good enough for local shows and above driver condition but not national show quality. All the sheet metal is original except for partial rear quarters. The fenders do not appear to have ever been removed. The original trunk floor is clean. The original Leather interior has no split seams and looks fantastic. The original Dash pad has no cracks and looks amazing. All the glass and top are in excellent condition. 1969 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible 340 A rare high performance convertible. One of 91 built, and even fewer have survived with their numbers matching 340 V8 and 727 TorqueFlite Transmission. This great convertible has been restored to factory original condition, though slightly modified to resemble a 340-S in appearance, and all done correctly with an eye for detail. National winner at Plymouth Owners Club Meets. About 150,000 original miles. About 27,500 miles since the engine was rebuilt to factory original specifications by Ray Barton (should be able to be verified via Dave Ferro at Totally Auto, who remembers this car from nearly 20 years ago and provided old pictures from back when the engine was removed and the engine bay matched to the rest of the car). Deluxe upholstery has a few small tears in the seats. However, I have a complete set (front and rear) of reproduction upholstery ready for installation included with the sale. Original wheels with Firestone Redline bias ply tires. Two three-inch binders of information with lots of documentation, history, and spare parts, and trophys included across the last two decades. Numbers Matching 340 V8 and 727 TorqueFlite Transmission, 3.23 Sure-Grip. Correct 066 radiator. Solid compression across all cylinders. Simply put -- one of the finest driven, restored 1969 Barracuda Convertibles, and it is a numbers matching 340, and correct from the carb to the oilpan! Restored to factory original condition. Long-standing history as a national winner at Plymouth Owners Club Meets always taking first or second place in the Barracuda category. Trophied in four of five recent events, including Spring Fling in Woodley Park, and the Inland Mopar Club show in Riverside CA. This car was competing in the stock A body class from 67-76, and only came in second in both events behind true low-mileage survivor cars. It most recently took First Place in the Stock A Body Class at this year’s Spring Fling, and Second at the Inland Mopar Club’s show this year. This ragtop was driven to and from both events (500+ miles total), and performs flawlessly. Condition would be considered a 1 if it was a trailer queen but I drive it about 1000 miles per year, primarily to cruise-in and Mopar Club events. It recently got a mention in Mopar Action's Reader's Rides section, if you care about that sort of thing. Car is always ready for the long haul, and has a fresh tune up and oil change. Recently replaced a blown driver’s side engine mount, and repaired a vacuum leak at the manifold, and I had the original carb dipped, correctly finished and detailed, and rebuilt. Original steel wheels with reproduction Firestone Redline bias ply tires. For highway driving, I install a set of 1970 Rallye wheels with BF Goodrich TA radials. Car tracks straight down the road, and there was power steering that was added very early on the life of the car, in fact so early it is thought to have been a dealer add-on. Three complete sets of wheel covers. Standard, wire spoke and the deluxe finned turbine blade (the latter were the originals delivered with the car). Extensive history of previous seven owners. Simply put, one of the most well documented and thoroughly researched 1969 340 Barracudas I have come across, and I know that am unlikely to find one again given how long it took me to unearth this one (6+ years). This car gets looks, compliments, and draws attention of even the most discerning Mopar fanatic wherever it goes. This car is priced well below what it would cost to restore one to this caliber. Some misc parts included with sale, including Mitchell Manual, various ads, magazines and brochures, Factory Service Manual, and small consumables like Mopar oil filters, spark plugs, correct KV hoses, heater hoses with Corbin clamps and Quanta belts. As much as I hate to, my wife says sell it. So here goes. 1970 HEMI CUDA 4-SPEED CONVERTIBLE. RED on RED. Started as a 318 Barracuda Convertible. Red interior Convertible from factory. Exterior is FE5 Rallye Red with Black Convertible Top. 426 Hemi engine has 1-19-70 or 1-29-70 date code on block. Can't remember and starter has it covered.Was a replacement engine in 1971 and is "UNSTAMPED" Yes block is unstamped. Bought this engine complete from top of carbs to bottom of oil pan. Engine has been completely rebuilt with the very best parts available. Original AFB Dual 4 Barrel Carbs were restored by Larry Shepard. Power steering sector and pump restored by Steer and Gear. 833 Hemi 4-speed Transmission rebuilt by Passion Performance. Dana 60 Super Track Pak rear end is spotless inside and out. New Super Stock rear springs. Correct hemi torsion bars. Rallye Gauges with latest electronics. NOS 3speed wiper switch installed in switch cluster. All gauges restored by Dash-Works. Restored Rim Blow Steering Wheel along with a RED Fish Cap. Tough to come by. Weld in frame connectors installed and moulded in. Looks factory. Car is as correct as any recreation car on this planet. Body is laser straight. 15x7 Rallye wheels on front and 15x8 Rallye Wheels on rear to allow tires to flatten out more for better traction. Light package, Dual sport painted Race mirrors, Eeastomeric bumpers front and rear. Shaker hood, Tinted glass, NOS space saver tire. am/fm radio. Turn radio on once it goes to am, turn on twice it goes to fm. Pretty cool and plays great. Power Convertible Top. Under side of car looks as good as the outside. Engine runs strong and sounds great.
