You are bidding on a Classic 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL. --- Excellent condition inside/outside/under the hood. Looks Runs and Drives Great! This car will satisfy any discriminating buyer. It is a real beauty! Everything in and on this car works like it should. -- 84,793 miles. 3 1/2 owners. The first owner had the car especially built for her in November 1986 ( See picture showing the metal stamped plate that Mercedes in Germany made for her with build and owner info). She lived in San Francisco. I believe that at some point she passed away and her daughter (who lived in Southern California 'inherited' the car from her. I bought the car 3 years ago when it had 73,000 miles on it from an auto dealer that had bought the car at an auction that the daughter used to sell it. ---- This car has obviously always been garaged and has always had non-smoking owners. It has no cracks in the interior dashboard, wood or leather, or any other common obvious signs of sunwear (that one could rightfully expect in a 29 year old car) on the inside of the car. Inside carpet, seats and mats are in Excellent condition. Seats are in great mechanical condition. No sagging in the drivers seat. Has the additional seat option in the back, but I just use it as a cushion for the stereo speakers. The body is straight, rust free (It has always been a west coast car.), and all the plates, doors and bumpers line/match up perfectly. The engine is quiet, and the transmission changes gears smoothly. The tires are good, and spare tire might have never been used. --- Looks and Drives great! Every time you drive this car, Every time you let someone else drive or ride in this car...... you WILL get compliments on how great it looks and runs! That is MY GUARANTEE !! --- I would say that this vehicle is in Near-Mint condition on the inside and Excellent +++ on the outside. It has it's original paint that is 29 years old now. Paint job still looks GREAT, but upon very close inspection you will find some light scratches, and few (2) very small (1/4") chip spots, . HEY, it is a 29 year old paint job!! ....So lets stick with the 'Excellent+++ Condition' tag for the outside. -- This car got a smog cert a few weeks ago, good for 90 days. I just paid the annual DMV registration a week ago. --- The exterior color is Smoke Silver, which is a less common and really nice looking color - the color to the eye will look quite different depending on whether it is cloudy or sunny outside! This price is below recent sales and way below Hagerty and NADA values. Plus, you cannot ever build a car like this, its original! Rare, low production, GTCS excellent Survivor in the true sense: Original Paint, All Original, Unmolested, No Modifications, ZERO RUST body. Beautiful and classic color combination. Near mint all original interior, carpet, doors, rear seat, California car its whole life with it's Original Black Plates (not Y.O.M. added plates) and Original Dealer Plate frames. Purchased from the Original owner. If you don't know what a GTCS California Special is, google it for lots more info. In 1968, Ford asked Shelby to design a coupe for California. The car uses a Shelby fiberglass trunk lid (from a convertable), and quarter panel extentions, tail lights, side scoops, fog lights, hood latches. Special blacked out grill with no Horse emblem. Only 3867 produced. This one is an early one produced February 27, 1968. Documented with Marti Report: Options: California Special, C-4 Cruise-O-Matic transmission, F-70x14 Wide Oval tires, White Sidewall Nylon tires, Power Disc brakes, Power Steering, AM Radio, Tinted glass, Deluxe seat belts, Deluxe wheel covers. Original hub caps, Original size tires in new condition. Original headlight bulbs with Ford script still on them, original Lucas foglights work perfectly. Original Factory assembly line marks and stamps still in place under the hood. Won a trophy at it first showing, people walked past the restored cars and gathered at this original. Only showed once at a local show. Body: Beautiful completely Rust Free original with patina, which is big nowdays. Some touch-ups, chips and scratches, a couple of small dents. Very presentable Original. Drivers fender has some repaint. Some areas have had blended-in paint, hard to tell. I see not signs of any accidents. Hood has a primer show-thru on one edge. Trunk is mint. All glass is perfect and original Ford CarLite glass, (I cant see a windshield I.D. mark). All weatherstripping is great. Again, ZERO RUST ANYWHERE. Underbody: See the photos, original Red Oxide still there and near mint..With original factory correct green, then black sill paint oversprays. Restored cars are never painted correctly under body. New rear original type leaf springs. Floors are Mint. ZERO RUST ANYWHERE. Interior: All original, dash pad is mint, dash is mint, all gauges work. No faded chrome. Seats are Mint except passenger side bottom has some loose seams. Headliner is beautiful (has 2 small tears). Rear package tray is Mint. Carpet is Excellent and original. New heater core and works perfect. 4 Original floor mats. Drivetrain: All original, numbers matching "born with" 289 runs excellent, motor never been out of the car and has all original paint. Very clean and original. Carb is rebuilt, distributor is rebuilt, new original type radiator, transmission looks and shifts like it has been rebuilt. New dual exhaust system is not stock type, but looks it. Sounds great. Drive anywhere. Some oil drips when parked. Basically, a rare, original, low production car that was cared for it's entire life, alway garaged and pampared, maintained, and repaired when needed. Original cars are getting very rare, and the California Specials are just now being discovered by most people and prices are on the rise. Only 3867 produced, and maybe 1000 left. No low ball offers.
