1936 Lincoln V12 Model K 324B Sedan, chassis serial #K6616, engine serial #K6616, was purchased new on June 11, 1936 by Congressman Lee Reed of Pasadena, California. He drove the car 91,855 miles until 1948, had the oil changed, and then parked the car in a building near Los Angeles. It remained in this building and was not driven until I purchased it in December 2011. When removed from the garage, the car had four more miles on the odometer than the oil change sticker indicated. Most of the rubber side walls on all four tires had rotted away and the only thing still holding the car up were the inner tubes. Miraculously, they all still held air after 63 years! After transporting the car to Syracuse, New York, it was decided to keep the car completely original and not restore it because the body and interior were still in excellent condition. The V12 engine, which is original to the car, ran silently when first started by us and the car was driven for the first time since 1948 in May 2012. An original 1944 California Registration Sticker and 1946 Federal Motor Vehicle Tax Stamp are on the windshield; also the 1936 Los Angeles resident license plate and 1936 California license plate were included. Also included was the original 1948 California registration listing Lee Reed as owner. Since this car was bought new in California and in dry storage in Pasadena since 1948, the condition of the wood, body and interior were all excellent. The car was also complete except for a driver’s door arm rest and the original key (the ignition switch is unlocked and the car can be driven without a key). The car had been repainted in the original dark blue color in the late 1930’s or 1940’s before it was put into storage. There are scratches, small dents, etc. but I thought that this gave the car character and it has been entered into many car shows and always draws a crowd. When this car appeared at the National Lincoln show and the Hershey car show in a line of fully restored classic Lincolns, there were more people looking at this car all day long. I was mostly interested in making sure that the car was completely reliable and would make a trip of any distance on an interstate highway. I have always taken my family including two small children to the many car shows that we attended and I did not want any breakdowns. It was my intention to enter this car in the Great Race and drive it across the U.S.A. someday, but this did not occur. I believe that it could make this trip. Some of the work that was done during the 2012-2013 period includes: rebuilt carburetor, rebuilt generator, complete valve job and machining of the head (compression is now great in all cylinders), gas tank removed and professionally cleaned, six new white wall tires, the addition of seatbelts (which can be placed underneath the seats during a show), addition of turn signals that could be removed, new Greyhound hood ornament added (original Greyhound is included but is in several pieces), bottom seat cushions were reupholstered in fabric that matched the original as close as possible but the rest of the interior was left alone because it was mostly excellent. The wood trim work throughout the car was in excellent condition but was restored as needed. Phil Bray high speed rear end gears were added (the bill for this alone was over $5,000) resulting in a great high speed road car (I have original gears), rebuilt fuel pump, major tune up, original radiator rebuilt, fuel lines added as needed, brake shoes, some new wiring as needed, several original correct door handles were located and added as needed and now all work perfectly. The car starts instantly, idles and drives perfectly, and runs cool on the hottest days and used virtually no oil on any of the long trips it has been on and does not smoke at all. Some of the shows that this car was driven to from Syracuse, NY include: May 2012 Saratoga, NY Concours Invitational (275 miles total driven), June 2012 Lincoln Owner’s Club National Meet, Hawley, PA (300 miles total driven), September 2012 Watkins Glen, NY Concours Invitational (200 miles total driven), October 2012 National AACA Show, Hershey, PA (600 miles total driven), July 2013, Munson Williams Concours Invitational, Utica, NY (150 miles total driven). Preservation cars are now in vogue at classic car shows and this CCCA classic would be welcome at many concours across the U.S.A. Because most classic cars have been restored, this car is very unusual. The few original classic cars that come on the market are usually rusty or incomplete. This 1936 Lincoln Model 324B is a four door, 3-window, five passenger sedan, built on the 136 inch wheelbase. It was one of the best-selling Model K’s that year with a production total of 297 and just several of these have survived. However, this particular car is quite rare as very few of the 297 were fitted with a divider window. It was designed to be owner driven and occasionally chauffeur driven, having the same upholstery front and rear. Most buyers in 1936 that desired a divider window opted for the Model 327B Seven Passenger Limo which sold a total of 370. Weight of the Model 324B sedan was 5476 pounds, and the price of the car without any options was $4300. Optional equipment on this car included original radio in rear compartment, heater, and divider window.The total price of the 324B when new including all options was approximately $5000 (about ten times the price of the cheapest 1936 Ford). Engines in all 1936 Model K’s were the same: 67 degree V12, brake horsepower 150, displacement 414 cubic inches, L head, cast iron block, bore & stroke, 3 1/8 x 4 1/2, compression ratio 6.38:1, 4 main bearings, with mechanical valve lifters. This is a restored car from a Lincoln enthusiast who lived in Texas. I bought the car back in December 2010 and shipped to California. In May of 2013 had to move to Maine for family reasons, so the car was shipped again to Maine. I had high hopes of using the car a lot during the summer, but the summer was very short and very wet. And of corse the winters in Maine are extremely long about seven months, i still started the car once a week and let run for 10-15 minutes, that is why i'am selling the car. The car needs to be driven and enjoyed. About the car, the car has a blue exterior, the interior is also blue and the top is white. The tires are white wall Coker Classics radials. The paint on the car really shines like glass, and the paint chip are hard to see. The door jambs and door sills are original paint. At first i thought that was just being lazy by restorer. So i talked to him and he said he wanted to show how good the car is with no rust on bottom of doors and sills. If you know these cars this is a common spots for rust, that be said this car seems to be rust free, Just don't hold me to it there might be a spot some where on the car, the car is 50+ years old. All of the chrome and stainless is in excellent shape. The bumpers where re chromed and shine almost like a mirror. The engine and transmission where rebuilt when restored, and runs perfect with lots of power, transmission shifts flawless. The top goes up and down like it should, looks like hoses were replaced, and maybe some of the hydraulics rams and pump were replaced to, just not sure all look newer or very clean. The interior seats are a blue vinyl, and so are the armrests no rips or scuffs, looks newer not original. Carpet is correct loop pile also looks newer not original. All the glass is in great shape no cracks or fogging. The top is also newer with no rips or scuffs, the plastic window for top is clear but has some small scuffs due to putting the top down, it scrapes on metal frame. I use a piece of foam tubing to protect from more damage when top is in trunk. The trunk lining looks all newer and redone. The dash has no cracks and looks original, but not sure. All the gauges are working and look great. I also have a set of original front seat belts i found on Ebay when i was looking for new antenna found these instead. Like i said before antenna can be fixed. I described the car to the best of my knowledge, I'am not a mechanic or mechanically inclined. If you are most things can be fixed easily or installed like seat belts. I do recommend that you take a look at the car if you can. If you don't live in area a flight is not that bad even from Los Angeles, especially if your going to spend this kind of money on a classic car. Surrounding the occupants handmade wood accents and trim adds heritage to the interior, as well as, it is in ideal condition. Mechanically sound in all functions, the flat-head V-8 has no problem matching today%26#8243; traffic conditions with grace. Easily gliding through the three forward gears, with first and second used for low speed and third as an overdrive for highway cruising. Stopping all 5,435lbs takes some time and confidence but the oversize mechanical drum brakes allows the driver to build confidence after some seat time with in the car. Payment and Deposit We require that you contact the Seller within twenty-four (24) hours, one (1) day, of this auction closing. A non-refundable deposit of ten percent (10%) is due within forty-eight (48) hours, two (2) days, of this auction closing and can only be paid to Seller by Cash (in person), Cashier's Check, Money Order, or some other form of certified transfer in US dollars. Full payment of the final price is due within seven (7) days of this auction closing and can only be paid to Beverly Hills Car Club by Cash (in person), Cashier's Check, Money Order or certified funds in US dollars. Please be advised that you are responsible for all fees associated with the purchase of the Automobile including but not limited to taxes and registration. Once full payment is received, the Seller will provide clear title, Bill of Sale and additional Department of Motor Vehicle forms to you for signature.
