We've all seen folks take a Malibu and clone it into an SS, but this one is just a little different. It is actually a Malibu that I changed into a lower level 300 Deluxe! Its badged as a 427, sort of a pre COPO clone that never was. I've had this car for 10 years, and built it to drive, not for a quick flip, so I have not cut corners on it. Read on... The car has an NOS right fender, AMD left fender and header panel, a repro right 1/4 panel, and a left lower 1/4 panel. The trunk and floors are solid, the only other body repairs were to section in the trunk weatherstrip channel from a donor car. It was sprayed with Slicksand hi build primer before blocking, and painted with Nason single stage urethane. The paint is going on 4 years and is still very nice. My goal was a factory appearing finish, so when I cut and buffed it, I left a slight amount of orange peel. If you want it to look like glass, there is enough material for another cut and buff. The rear bumper and rocker moldings were NOS parts, the front bumper, door handles and other trim are repros. Its got a new windshield, with the rest of the glass being original. All weatherstrip and such was replaced at that time. I'd call it an 8 out of 10, there are a few spots if you know where to look, plus a few chips from use, since I DRIVE this car! The interior was done shortly after paint, and looks really outstanding. It is all Distictive, and was new except for a redyed original dash pad. The dash has factory U14 gauges except for the tach, which is a no name unit resembling an old Sun. There is a tilt column with the original 300 Deluxe steering wheel. It has an am radio with a hidden FM converter (remember those?) and a rear seat speaker with fader. Both speakers are new from turnswitch dot com, and it plays as well (or not) as you would expect. The car is also equipped with a functioning aftermarket cruise control, and a Day 2 appearing under dash a/c unit that cools to 38 degrees. I wanted to enjoy the ride, have I mentioned that I DRIVE this car? The engine is a 454, bored .030 over with flattop pistons. The heads are 1968 casting #401. These are large oval ports, and give a compression ratio of around 9.1, meaning it runs on pump gas with no problem. The cam is a Howards hydraulic with .500/.505 lift on a 114 degree lobe center, it idles well and makes nice power. The intake and exhaust manifolds are stock, with a custom tuned Quadrajet and recurved points distributor. The shortblock only has about 100 miles on it since a complete rebuild. The trans is a 700R4 overdrive with lockup and a 2100 stall converter, and it has less than 150 miles since a complete rebuild with Transgo parts. The driveshaft was shortened and balanced at the same time. Out back is the original 10 bolt peg leg differential with 3.08 gears with new seals and bearings. This combo makes for a great highway car. Living in Houston, you can't get anywhere without being on the highway, and as I think I've mentioned, I DRIVE this car! The wheels are15x7 rally wheels with new trim rings and have F70-15 bias ply repro Firestone tires, including the spare. The tires have about 2,000 miles on them. The buyer will have a choice of these wheels and tires, or a set of 215-70-15 whitewall radials on 15x7 rally wheels, also includes a matching spare. The redlines look better, but the whitewalls drive better! The front and rear suspensions have been rebuilt with all stock parts, and there are front and rear swaybars with all new brakes, including the factory single piston from discs, that have about 1Underhood is a 1977 truck 454 bored .030 over with flat top pistons, and 1968 heads with ca50 miles on them. A Jeep Grand Cherokee box makes for tight steering, and the car drives and goes down the road like it was 1968 again. Everything on this car has under 3,000 miles on it, and I would not hesitate to drive it cross country with doing nothing more that checking oil and tire pressure before I left. In fact, I've done just that, I took it to Kansas City last years for the Midwest Chevelle Regional show (where it won a Top 3 award in the 1968 Stock class!), a 1,500 mile round trip. So you are thinking, "wow, what a car, sounds like its perfect" Well... no its not. The horn does not work, I've never been able to find the correct parts for the 300 Deluxe steering wheel. The factory amp gauge and temp gauges are inop, I have a digital volt gauge plugged into an underdash charging port, and an aftermarket temp gauge. The vent window rubber is cracking, I could not figure out how to take them apart to replace them, even with youtube :( The paint is not a 10, and there is a little bit of wind noise, even with new weatherstrips. I have every reciept for everything, and a clear Texas title But,if you want a car to drive anywhere, any time, win trophies and get thumbs up, then this is the one. I just clay barred, polished and waxed it and it has a full tank of gas. DONT BE AFRAID TO MAKE ME A REASONABLE OFFER< I AM SELLING ALL MY CHEVELLE PROJECTS For sale is a nicely optioned 1967 Chevelle Malibu Station Wagon for restoration or parts. The car is a nearly 100% unbelievably complete, missing very minor 'nicknack' items only (knob, nut, etc). The exterior color code is SS- Sierra Fawn, The interior trim code is Medium Gold Vinyl. The engine is 283 V8 and is completely unmolested and original. It has factory installed AC with dash controls and vents. The system was actually still charged when I pressed the scrader valve core!!!!!!!!!. It has automatic powerglide trans ( 2 speed powerglide), power steering and power brakes . This car was running great and driven to its last storage spot by me and parked many years ago,and has sat there ever since. I put a wrench on motor and turned it over at least a full revolution or two by hand . It rotates as it should. The air filter, all accesories and pulleys and belts are 100% intact. I do not want to hastily "DRY" start this car just for the sake of additional advertising and potentially cause other problems for the buyer that could have been avoided with more cautious pre- treatment such as belt removals, cylinder lubrication and internal oil circulation which I do not have time for. It has been sitting for at least 10 years- it ran great when I parked it and it still turns over fine. This car will need a full restoration, including typical items such as floors, body patch panels etc.. There is a small rusted out spot in the frame behind the right front wheel, and rusted out floors in the rear section as minimum. I crawled around it and took more pics of the underside, these pics can be sent if you are bidding or to anyone if you are serious bidder, The frame rust spot is the typical area behind the RF wheel, is relatively small, and potentially easily repairable, the frame section is currently available on Ebay for $99.00. I have a close up of it but cant post any more pics. i can provide in question response. The drivers side looks good here, as does the rest of the frame . I purchased this car for clip and AC PB PS for an SS resto project that has been since sold, so I have not jacked it up and investigated underside very closely, if i get to it i will and report again on all. The rockers etc look pretty solid, see pics . The interior is basically all orig and again near 100% complete, and overall the front clip, doors and rockers and around windshield and roof look quite solid for their age. Rear seat unlatches and folds down flat as it should. There is a paper vehicle list (build sheet??!!) wedged in the springs under the rear seat. I have not pulled it out and dont want to potentially cause damage. The spare tire and complete jack- stem, base, handle and bumper bracket are included. The rear window chrome trim pieces are inside the car. all windows and tailgate glass roll up and down properly with care. ALL glass appears good, The tailgate key lock works, door locks are free, the right front door seems to be unlocking properly but may be stuck, I will not yank on it any harder than I have already so I dont damage anything. Hood opens and closes nicely, as do the other 3 doors and gas filler neck flap. Tailgate latch cables are broken inside, but I was able to open it from inside as shown. Lifting the rear mat revealed rusted out floors in the back section. The rest is original carpet and has not been removed . Glove box and ashtray open/close with care. Seatbelts intact. Front seat adjustmt slides back and forth/latches with care. Windshield Washer fluid reservoir intact w/ hose and half full, 2nd used battery tray in pkg in car. I have a clear NJ title in my name in my possession. It is the correct year make model and color and VIN and shows 109K " Actual" miles. the odometer reads 3k. (obviously 103k) The title says 109K because the NJ Dept of Motor Vehicles added a few thousand miles to it upon transfer so it wouldn't read the same between owners after transfer even though it wasn't driven between owners. Why I don't know- they told me it is their standard operating procedure ???? The "Actual" prefix of 'A' on the title was more important to me to retain than having it read prefix 'M' for "Exceeded Mechanical Limits" (meaning no digit over 100K) so I let them process it at 'A' and 109k rather than 'M' and 3k. 100% clean title ! Car has all 4 original matching painted rims, with poverty style baby moon hub caps in very good shape. Theses are very desirable rims and caps, 3 tires hold air continuously,(like for the last 20 years) 1 goes down in a few days, can be shipped with these on. The car rolls freely, The keys are GM and believed to be original. There is a stock AM radio on the front hump, may be original/repaired I don't know. Odom reads 03000. Last known Registration was 1989. I am not an auto restoration specialist, I always try to represent as best as possible. SEE PICS!!!! Before we begin this ad, we would like to address a mystery that has surrounded the 1970 Chevelle SS for years. In 1970, approximately 51,000 SS 396, RPO Z25 Chevelles were manufactured. However, at every car show, cruise, or auctions nationwide, there are hundreds always on display. How can this be? The answer is very simple. They are clones or reproductions! The 1970 Chevelle SS is one of the most counterfeited models in the muscle car hobby. It is also one of the easiest to reproduce. There are absolutely no proprietary numbers, codes, vin indicators, etc. exposed or hidden on an SS that definitively prove the authenticity, that cannot be faked or reproduced. In addition, virtually every SS component is now available from aftermarket suppliers. Building a clone is as easy as ordering parts and assembling the car. So how can the buyers be positive they are purchasing the real deal? Simple- documentation. Original, rock solid documentation, not reproduced paperwork with a cup of Folger’s coffee spilled on it. This is a serious problem in Chevelle circles, and unfortunately many “Chevelle SS” owners nationwide don’t realize they are in the possession of a fake. It has been rumored for years that GM actually has the same documents in the archives as they had for Pontiac, Buick, etc. They supposedly are afraid to make this available to the public due to the legal problems that would arise due to the sheer volume of clones already out there. At any rate, it is quite unlikely that any more information will ever become available. Simply stated, documentation determines the value. It's a real code 138 SS and thanks to a stunning restoration with a few smart updates, it makes grown men stop in their tracks. If you're going to build a car that looks this brilliant and attracts this much attention, it had better be able to back it up. Fortunately, it's a real-deal SS396, so those looks should probably serve more as a warning than an invitation. Either way, this car is going to have eyeballs all over it wherever it goes, and the paint is just the beginning. The bodywork is crisp and smooth, with great character lines running through the side panels and good alignment on the doors. A stock hood with bright chrome inserts is far cooler than any generic cowl-induction piece would be, and the simple Chevelle look is only enhanced by the lack of a roof. The correct badges and emblems are retained and this car comes by the SS grille legitimately, so you don't have to worry about people calling it a fake. There's also nice chrome on the bumpers, shiny stainless around the windshield, and a nicely finished posterior, which is the view most folks will see on the street. If you're able to get close to this beast, you'll be happy to learn that the interior lives up to the standards set by the bodywork. New upholstery on the seats and door panels, a center console with a proper 4-speed shifter, and a handsome 3-spoke steering wheel that looks stock, but isn't quite. Sharp-eyed viewers and Chevelle experts will note that this is a factory A/C car, which is always a pleasant upgrade, and the center console still houses its original "Gas Master" vacuum gauge, ostensibly designed to improve fuel economy. The rest of the instrument panel is very nicely detailed, with shiny knobs and crisp gauges plus an AM/FM stereo radio in the center. Overhead there's a brand new black convertible top with correct plastic rear window, and the fit is so snug and wrinkle free that you could bounce the proverbial quarter off its surface. The trunk is also nicely finished with spatter paint, reproduction mats, a space-saver spare just in case, plus an Optima battery and master cut-off switch. That big block under the hood is a 1969-dated 396 cubic inch V8 that may look somewhat stock at a glance, but delivers the goods in a big way. A Weiand intake with a Holley 4-barrel makes the intake side, a Mallory Unilite distributor lights the fires, and a set of long-tube headers and a mandrel-bent Flowmaster exhaust system handle the exhaust. All told, it makes this a ferocious car on the street, but one that's happy enough idling in traffic and running pump gas, the perfect combination. It's also nicely detailed with Chevy Orange paint, a few chrome items, and lots of new equipment, including all the lines and hoses, brake master cylinder, power brake booster, and the aluminum radiator up front. The underside is extremely clean, with a 10-bolt rear end hanging just ahead of a new gas tank. It gets that awesome stance from a set of slick Torque Thrust wheels wearing staggered 225/40/18 front and 255/30/20 rear Toyo performance radials. Frame-off restorations aren't cheap, and if they didn't have to keep up with an assembly line, I bet the guys who built this car back in '67 would have wanted every Chevelle to be this amazing. The vehicle has a 67 Chevelle Big Block 396 motor and a 350 Turbo transmission that were both completely rebuilt when install and has very low miles on them, less than 10,000 miles. This date cast 1966 Block *J 8 6* or Sept-Oct 1966 for this BB 396 motor #TII03IV stamped on right side pad. It is a great driver and it would make a good all around rig for Hunting or Camping as that is what it was mainly use for in the past. It has power everything and is the 9 passenger suburban with 396 and 350 Turbo Automatic trans with the older style manual in/out 4X4 shifter to put it in low range with straight axles, not the newer independent suspension type and push button in/out 4 wheel. The motor is available by itself but this rig can be bought as a driver for a more than fair price complete for a driver or Parts or camping or hunting rig. 1967 Chevelle SS 427 I intended to make this a 1967 Chevelle SS 427 Clone, but unfortunately don't have the time. Actual mileage on car and engine are unknown. All SS 427 Chevelles are clones. There were never any made by Chevy - only the SS 396. It is a 1967 Malibu 2 door HT, 67-13617 car, with 427 engine and 400 turbo transmission. Runs very strong, with no leaks. Looks greats. Exhaust system is like new. Has a very high dollar and very desirable 1968 Corvette 427 engine. Very straight, rust free body with nice driver quality custom paint job with Ghost Flames. Bucket seats were originally blue but have been dyed Black. (I believe these to be the original seats). Glass is good, back glass has some scratches and fog (but no cracks or chips). Built on an ultra-clean, stripped-down 2-door post coupe, the specifications read like a high-end parts catalog, including a fuel injected small block and custom paint, and it all combines to create one of the finest custom Chevelles we've ever featured. Refinished in tasteful purple over tan, there was just no point in trying to be subtle. Most of the original sheetmetal was retained, but in the quest for perfection, everything was smoothed and straightened so that the custom work would really stand out. The trim was all shaved to give it a sleeker look and a cowl-induction hood was installed simply because nothing looks better on an early A-body. The de-badging was thorough, and the most interesting detail on the car is now a simple graphic that creates a side molding on the rear quarters. The two-stage urethane paint looks so spectacular that onlookers might think it's still wet and it's obvious that a lot of late nights went into getting all the panels aligned just right. It's a few years old now, so it's got a few signs of work, but there's no denying that a lot of money went into the build. There's no chrome or stainless left, but the bumpers were tucked in close to the body and the window frames were expertly painted to match the body, adding a very monochromatic look that's quite appealing. There's not much stock Chevelle equipment remaining inside. Low-back buckets have beautiful tan cloth upholstery that is a lot more supple and comfortable than the hardy, shiny GM stuff. Custom door panels and carpets with custom floor mats add to the illusion that this is no ordinary Chevelle. The original dash has been extensively reworked; turn the key and it lights up with an instrument panel full of Dakota Digital instruments flanked by a leather-wrapped Budnik steering wheel on a custom tilt column. A custom center console adds a dose of style and practicality, and houses the shifter for the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission underneath. A powerful AM/FM/CD stereo with separate amplifiers in the trunk provides the soundtrack and there are power window and lock switches neatly integrated into the design. In the trunk, you'll find more gorgeous custom work that's more than up to the standards set by the interior design. Mechanically, this car is a wolf in, well, wolf's clothing. The 350 cubic inch L98 is topped by aluminum heads and fed by a factory Tuned Port fuel injection system that makes it start quickly, idle like a modern car, and pull like a freight train. Everything under the hood has been painted to match the body, the firewall and inner fenders have been smoothed, and a few splashes of machined aluminum add contrast. A BeCool aluminum radiator with a giant electric fan keeps it cool no matter what, and you're in good hands with power steering and front disc brakes. The car is a complete rotisserie restoration on what was a very nice original car. We have extensively checked over all of the sheet metal and believe it is all original to the car. All of the factory spot welds are in place, there is no seam sealer where panels have been added and the fit is excellent. The paint is a base/clear two stage job on top of a wonderfully straight body. The doors, hood and trunk all fit as well as they ever did. All of the glass is new on the car and has been restamped with the correct SoftRay factory markings. The trim on the car is excellent and fully restored and the chrome is wonderful as well, with the front bumper actually being an NOS part still retaining the GM Parts sticker. The drivetrain has been completely rebuilt and the motor is original to the car, with a partial VIN stamping on the front of the block. The engine code of JD is correct for a 396/375 HP engine paired with a 4-speed transmission. The motor was built on November 11th and the car was built in December so everything pairs up correctly. The transmission is date code correct, however, was not born with the car. It has the factory correct Muncie linkage and shifter. The rear end is a CI code which is for a 3.73 posi. The housing was cast on November 13th which precedes the build date of the car. These CI code rear ends were only founds in L34 and L79 Chevelles. The Holley Carburetor is the correct unit for the 1969 Chevelle and was built in the second week of November. Both exhaust manifold castings are for the 1969 Chevelle with a 396. No matter what the HP output, the exhaust manifolds for all the 396 cars were the same. The water pump was built in November which is correct for the car, and all of the front drive pulley appears to be original GM part numbered pulleys. The heads are correct "Hi Performance" square port heads. The passenger side has the correct date casting for the car, although the driver%u2019s side has the casting number of a dealer replacement unit that GM used. Obviously it was damaged and replaced by the dealer many years ago. The exhaust system on the car is a chambered NOS unit. It is not aluminized and even has the correct oval shape as it goes under the transmission brace. It also has the factory correct exhaust brackets at the the rear of the car, and resonators with the factory weep holes. The car also has the correct BO code radiator which pairs with the 396/375 HP motor with a manual transmission. The suspension of the car is fully rebuilt and retains the correct cast finish. The drive shaft is the correct bare finish as well, and even the spiral shocks are correct on the car. Not only do all the wheels have the correct YA stamping for a 14x7 SS wheel, but they also have all the same date codes. "CI" code rear ends were found in the L34 and L79 Chevelles and were 3.73 12 bolt posi units. The unit was cast on November 13th, of 1968. Holy sixties flashback Batman this car will throw you back to your dreams of yesteryear. You will not believe what this car has to offer. I don’t mean just the rumble of the heavy cam or the snap of your head as you punch the incredibly responsive 396/375 HP beast into action. It has everything any collector could ask for; especially the options. First of all it IS a REAL Super Sport. To top that it is a three owner car; first two owners were from Boise Idaho where it was first sold. Next is the incredible low mileage. The car only has 57,300 ORIGINAL Miles on it and the vehicles condition inside and out confirm this to be true. Next is the incredible amount of options the car has: POWER WINDOWS (less than 100 Super Sports came with this option), POWER DISC BRAKES (this was the first year that they were available and they are also very, very rare). Remote Mirror, Rear Antenna, Console with Bucket Seats, Turbo 400 Automatic, 4:11 Posi Rear End and a 375 H.P. power plant. HISTORY: The original owner purchased the car new from a Chevy dealer in Boise, Idaho in 1967 and kept it in a heated garage for 30 years. He had driven the car around town on weekends and only put 48,000 miles on it. He was 80 years old when he sold it to the second owner in 1997. The second owner, also from Boise, Idaho purchased the car and did a restoration of the vehicle over the seven years that he owned it. The motor I should mention that the engine was a warranty replaced engine in 1968 (cast date on block) but the remainder of the drive train is the original 1967 production parts. This second owner rebuilt the entire engine to the 375 HP specs. He did update the alternator and the intake system to make them more efficient and powerful. The rear axle (12-Bolt Posi, 4:11) and the Turbo-400 Automatic (shift kit and heavy duty torque convertor) have been gone through and all clutches and seals were replaced; No leaks anywhere on this car. All of the body panels are original on this car except for the patch panel at the bottom of the rear quarter panel on the driver’s side (typical of 67 Chevelles), but was done professionally seamless. The second owner didn’t care much for the original color scheme (Capri crème (TT) with Medium Gold Buckets (784)) and opted for a Mountain Green color scheme. Interior material was ordered directly from Chevrolet and was used, as it matched the GM paint color. All of the repaint and interior work was done very well (about a 8 of 10) and has a slight pro touring look with the built up edges on the front bucket seats. Other items the second owner replaced were: Rebuilt carburetor New dash bezels – originals never stand the test of time New Headliner – done at the same time the new interior was redone New tires and 15 x 8 rally wheels with center caps and trim rings New exhaust system – 2 ½ inch with series 50 Flow Masters and a balance pipe exiting in the stock placement New Seat Belts – the factory gold ones didn’t match the new color interior All new door seals and rubber everything. New gas shocks on all 4-corners I am the third owner and purchased the car in 2004 from the second owner where it resides in the suburbs of the MOTOR CITY (Detroit) in a garage under a custom cover. The car had 56,030 miles on it when I purchased it in June 2004 and currently has 57,300 miles on it today; so in 11 years I actually drove it a total of 1,270 miles which means limited wear on the car from all the work the previous owners did to this car. I am a bit of a perfectionist and an ASE Master Certified Auto technician, so there were a couple of items that I wanted to replace based on the age (not the mileage) of the vehicle since it had such a low usage over its lifetime. I replaced the following items: New Radiator – Original one was 40+ years old and didn’t trust the solder to last much longer New Water Pump – Safety measure since I had the cooling system drained and radiator removed New front disc calipers (4-piston originals), rotors and pads – calipers were leaking New Wiper motor (NOS in box) – Original one actually seized up from sitting too long New fuel tank – not sure what the inside of original one looked like, being safe again That and a few electrical loose ends were all the car needed since I have owned it. There may be a couple of small fine tune items to make it concourse; but not many. Everything (Except the original console clock) works on this car. The rear power windows need to be lubed; they stick when rolling them down so I put slight pressure on them and they work fine. This car just needs someone to drive it to the shows and haul the trophies home! SUMMARY: This car will not disappoint you. It drives straight and easy down the road. The transmission and engine work perfectly. There are no squeaks, rattles or wind noise. I am not claiming that this car is a 10, but it is an easy 8+. It is all that you would expect from a low mileage 48-year old car and more. So bid with confidence and own a true piece of Muscle Car history. Everyone will gawk at you as you drive down the street (I experience this every time I took it out for a cruise). People will follow you into parking lots to ask you questions. I love this car, but I want to purchase a new 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat (something about the 707 HP that has my individual attention). I guess I love to own the very limited and rare Muscle Cars.
