For sale is my daily driver a 1968 mercury cougar that has been mostly restored. Originally Olive Green color. It has the original 302/ 4bbl engine with Edelbrock 500 carb and manifold. Transmission is C4 which was rebuilt 5 years ago. It has 3:00 gears and 8' rear. Car is mostly stock except it has long tube headers, electronic ignition and glasspacks. It has the original vacuum motors for the headlights which does go up but not down. Rear brake pads do need to be replaced and currently has about 3mm pad left on each side. At idle the motor has a vacuum of 18 psi. Almost everything inside the interior works except the A.C system which the car did come from factory with it but has been removed since I purchased this car. It has power steering as well. Interior has been painted gloss black. Recently, I have been having a hard time rolling up the driver side window from daily use and the rear quarter window on the passenger side does not go down anymore. All the exterior and interior chrome is original so it does have scratches and some pitting. Hood scoop and rear spoiler are repos and were installed from previous owner. 15X7 front and 15x8 rear Cragar wheels does have oxidation and been painted dark gray. Drives nice and straight especially at high speeds. The doors do have some misalignment and steering wheel is a bit off center when driving. The windshield wiper fluid works and the wipers as well. The starter on the transmission could be replaced since sometimes there is some cranking issues especially when its very cold outside but the engine does turn over. From the looks of it the engine does not seem to be rebuilt but it runs great with no issues and all the valve seals have been replaced. Mostly the bad thing I would say about this car is the paint job which was done from the previous owner and has been fading over time. Rear chrome bumper does need some straightening. The car does have a salvage title. Just recently I drove the car a little over 100 miles in one day on the freeway with no problems. All in all this car out in public gets looks and compliments. All of these items are new or rebuilt and are about 1-5 years old. I have also kept mostly all the receipts for the following items: - Edelbrock 1403 carb - Petronix ignition - Carpet and insulation - Passenger side mirror - Headboard- Dash board- Thermostat and housing- All Tires are 4 years old with less than 300 miles on them - Modern solid state for sequential tail lights - All headlights - All rear tail light bulbs - All front suspension - Fuel pump with 2 filters and custom braided steel fuel hose up to the carburetor - Oil pan - Deep transmission pan - All interior lights been upgraded to led lights - Rear shocks - Front disc brakes and pads with braided steel hoses - CD Radio - Master brake cylinder- All coolant hoses - Disc Brake Distribution Block and Proportioning Valve have been rebuilt - Front windshield and rear glass weatherstrip - Idle arm - Power steering ram cylinder rebuilt and hoses - T-Lock shifter handle - All dash cluster lights have Green led light bulbs - Alternator - V-belts - Battery tray - Turn signal switch - All exterior weather stripping - Rear view mirror - Spark plugs and wires - All tire rods - Power steering control valve has been rebuilt - Radiator cooling fan and shroud - Water pump - New Valve Seals - Wheel bearings - Battery - Original steering wheel painted gloss black - All new speakers Contact me to see up 70 pictures of the car The car is located in Hesperia, CA. Selling my 68 Cougar XR7. It has been completely restored and came from California this spring. It is an original 390 car with a sunroof. One of 696. The motor and transmission were completely rebuilt when it was restored. The 390 has been upgraded to a 4 barrel carb. Also installed were, Vintage Air AC, cruise control, hidden stereo with new rear speakers, sub woofer and remote. The trunk is also a custom feature. The restoration was completed in 2014 and there has been less than 2K miles put on it since then. It is an awesome car, but I have moved on to another one. It runs and drives awesome and everything works as it should. I had it appraised in March for 32K and I'm willing to sell it for 28K. You deserve this car or give to your wife for Christmas. Car starts, runs, charges, drives and stops, has new front disc calipers and pads, new wipers, new rear wheel cylinders ,new door switch for interior lights, new , new headlight switch, brake hardware , rear shocks, headlight switch, alternator, voltage regulator , spark plugs and wires. New air plenum box for heater . Tail light sequentials work flawless with new replacement solid state system. This car is originally from Texas was last registered in 1993 in N.H. .. No title , be sure to check with your local laws on cars needing title.. Have owners registration and bill of sale signed by the owner. selling car for a friend . This car needs very little to register. Tires are good, all lights work, wipers and heat work, hideaway headlights do work but the air canister and vacumn lines were removed (have all parts ). Car has some flaking of paint and surface rust on hood and trunk lid from repaint at one point. This car has some original paint .. Not a bondo bucket but has some on hood and trunk.. Has small hole around rear window (typical spot they rust) also trunk lid has hole can be repaired. Needs vinyl top. Not rusted underneath . Frame is good, trunk in good condition, torque boxes are solid , floors have small rust holes typical for these cars from debri blocking cowl vent. ..Car needs interior work , seats ripped, cushions need replacement , no headliner, no carpet, door panels in good condition for the age. Fuel gauge does not work. gas tank was removed cleaned out . The rear seat is nice has one small tear, opera lights are functional, everything works but the horn which is missing.
