EXTREMELY RARE, 1988 PONTIAC FIERO GT WITH T-TOPS, AUTOMATIC, ONLY 50,198 MILES, AMAZING CONDITION, READY TO SHOW AND GO!!! 1 OF 614 FACTORY T-TOP FIERO GT'S EVER PRODUCED!!! This is truly one of those unique opportunities to buy a collectible sports car that was ordered loaded up with rare options and has truly been pampered and extremely well maintained throughout its life. Hard to believe this car is now 29 years old! The body is in fantastic condition and was never in any accidents nor shows any rust anywhere. The original red paint still shines beautifully. Upon close inspection you will find a few very tiny rock chips along the front bumper but this is the original factory paint. I point out these minor flaws to let you know it is not absolutely flawless but I am confident the next lucky owner will be thrilled with its original condition. All of the original VIN stickers are present on all body panels. Pop-up headlights function perfectly. The body style on the Fiero GT is really quite sleek and this Red beauty attracts attention wherever it goes. Of the 6848 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT's produced, only 614 had the Factory T-Top option ordered and this is one of those rare optioned cars. This can be verified on the production sticker that shows the CJ8 Code that indicates this was one of the cars that GM sent to Cars and Concepts (C&C) to have the T-Tops installed before it was then shipped out to the dealer. The T-Tops are in great condition and come with the original T-Top cover bags. They fit snug and and tight and do not leak. It almost smells new! The tan cloth seats compliment the red exterior beautifully and are in amazing condition with no signs of wear. Dash looks perfect, center console looks new, carpeting looks great and original floor mats still look good. Power windows and power mirrors function properly. The original steering wheel and shifter show no wear which is amazing. All of the gauges and lights appear to be working correctly and the A/C blows nice and cold. This GT was ordered with all options including the power mirrors, windows, and cruise control and the only option not on the vehicle is a rear window defogger. It also has the very rare Performance Factory Sound Option with sub woofer. All of the speakers except the sub were replaced by me and the system looks original and sounds great. Overall the interior is simply show ready awesome! The Fiero's mid engine layout was chosen as a way to reduce aerodynamic drag and vehicle weight to improve fuel efficiency and for its handling, traction and braking benefits. The 1988 GT model is considered the most desired for many reasons. Numerous changes were made to the 1988 Fiero with the most significant one being a completely redesigned suspension to realize the full potential of the mid-engine layout. This new suspension included new two piece brake calipers and upgraded rotors. The GT model included the V6 motor with 43 horsepower more than the 4 cylinder, upgraded suspension and wider tires. Topping off the package was the new vented disc brake set up on all 4 corners. During the final year of production the Pontiac, MI plant where the Fiero was produced was shut down and Pontiac made the decision to cease production in February, 1988. There were only a total of 6849 Fiero GT's produced in this final year. Research shows there were some interesting comparisons of the Fiero GT to the Ferrari 308 and performance statistics would surprise the heck out of you on the Fiero. It is known that Pontiac purchased several Ferrari 308's for handling and engineering and comparison purposes. Some called the Fiero the mini Ferrari that was far more affordable. The original gold wheels are in excellent condition. Front trunk area looks like it did in 1988 and the engine bay and trunk are extremely nice and near perfect. The only two things not stock on this car (having been replaced by the previous owner) are the rear view mirror and radio. The original cassette was replaced by a factory Pontiac CD unit which matches perfectly and only an expert would know it is an upgrade. The rear view mirror was replaced with an auto dimming compass Pontiac model and again looks perfectly stock. This car is a fully loaded great example of this fine collectable mid engine American made machine. Deposit required within 48 hours of purchase. Not only does this one have a powerful 327 ci V8, but also a custom interior and exterior. So now you can have a very unique build that fits into any budget. There aren't many better colors on a mid-engine sports car than bright red, and the Fiero GT wears it quite well. In fact, Fieros have often been harvested to create replicas of exotic Italian cars, so it's nice to see one transformed into an exotic American. Because this Fiero GT is special, it has some standout features like the new front end with a more intricate design. It also looks more modern with the flip up headlights switched to narrow units behind flush-mounted glass (even the Lamborghini Diablo did that later in its life!) The ground effects, bold rear wing, and dual exhaust have a great custom look, but they were all actually direct from the factory. It's capped off with a nice set of Ruff Racing five-star wheels. Unlike the mid-engine European cars, the Fiero's design does not sacrifice interior space. This is thanks to a very upright design that gives you a very airy feeling. The tan leather seats are exceptionally comfortable because they are buckets borrowed from a C4 Corvette. It has the same tone of other tan interior elements such as the center console, carpets, door panels, and dash. This Fiero was built with plenty of comfort features such as air conditioning, power windows, and an aftermarket AM/FM/CD stereo system. The driver gets a wood and leather three spoke steering wheel, and beyond that is a gauge package that includes a new Bosch tachometer with a redline that reflects the new motor. Many believed the Fiero could have handled a much larger powerplant than what went in at the factory. But what GM didn't accomplish, a few independent spirits did. So this Fiero GT is quite special with a 327 cubic-inch V8 motor in the original rear engine bay. This was rebuilt less than 5,000 miles ago, and is reported to produce around 350 hp. But more than just powerful, this small block is reliable with a new water pump and alternator installed in the last few months. The added power is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. So now this is a well-balanced mid-engine machine with plenty of power on tap, that also has a fully independent suspension, the Fiero's legendary lively steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and low-profile Falken Ziex tires. This is an interesting build that showcases the potential we all knew the Fiero had. Best of all this custom build easily fits into a budget. For Sale: Pontiac Fiero SE 6 cylinder. Car is a "show car winner" at several car shows including Carlisle's ALL GM show. (so yes .. the interior and engine bay area are virtually flawless) You'll have to SEE the car to understand. The ONLY reason I'm selling it is due to a recurring spine injury where my bones shift whenever I'm trying to change gears. (sucks) I've driven Fiero's since I was 16. (I'm 38 now) It's the only type of car I've ever owned. That said... This car has gotten 100% PERFECT CARE over the years. This one has 93,237 miles on it. (never wrecked) Has a $3000.00 Paint job. The suspension of the car was redone at around 87,000 miles .. (I just wanted top notch stuff in there) So I put on NEW shocks, struts, brake pads, brake hoses (stainless steel), brake calibers, Rotors, and Poly Urethane Bushings the whole way around the including the control arms. I had two of the exact same car (hence two of those pictures) One was my daily driver and THIS ONE was my show car :) (the one with the sunroof in the pics of two) Anyway ..
