ONLY ENGINE ON OFFER, NEVER INSTALLED. Mopar late production ported aluminum Stage VI head package, Eagle Kit (steel rods, Hemi 4340 steel crank, Ross pistons), competition balanced, 'early 400" block, .570" Solid Ultradyne cam/lifter 296 duration 256 lift, Ported/port matched Mopar M1 single plane manifold, Fluidampr. 640hp/640torque when used with 2 7/8" headers and the right carb. No valve covers, no carb. From MM: 400 Block In my 29+ years experience, the 400 block is THE best wedge block for performance engine builds. There are number of factors that make me say this. 1) bore size: the 400 has the biggest starting bore @ 4.340. Bigger bores unshroud the valves and allows the cylinder head to flow more air. As we all learned in “engine building 101”: the more airflow you have, the more power you can make! 2) The short deck height makes the cylinders more stable, and the block itself fits better in tight fit applications. The shorter deck height also means a shorter/lighter piston. Factory blocks don’t really like a lot of stroke (two bolt mains) so we try to limit performance and race engine builds to a 4.25 stroke. Limiting stroke helps minimize main cap walk and improves block durability. Since we don’t run very large stroke, we can then use a 6.535 long rod and a 1.300ish compression height piston. This creates a combo with a good rod ratio, short/light piston without having the wrist pin intersect the oil ring and a piston that is still tall enough to accommodate any valve pocket depth and or ring package. 3) main size: the 2.625 size main bearing require less oil to maintain a hydrodynamic wedge (this is the “wedge” of oil that separates the crank from the bearings) and the smaller main size also leaves more material in the block around the main studs/saddles. This is important because the block is the weakest link when building a performance engine in a stock block. When we build a high performance 400 or 440 block, we will use a main stud girdle for power ranging from 650-750 HP. For power levels over 750 HP we will upgrade the main caps themselves as well as at least a partial filling of the water jacket with cement for bottom end stability. Other than a somewhat limited availability of good core blocks, the 400 is my favorite engine block to build. SAVE 3,000.00! Pick up only.

1968 Plymouth Road Runner 2dr sedan, (post). This car was professionally restored by one of Canada's top restoration shops here in Ontario back in 2008. The underlying body work is exceptional - no expense was spared. The paint work was done to the same industry benchmark standard. Since 2008 the car has only seen occasional use - 2525 miles, and was caught in the rain ONCE. I have the Galen Govier paperwork along with the original build sheet. This car came from the factory as a base Road Runner. No options! An AM radio was added at some time during it's life and I left it installed; after a thorough going over. The engine stampings are: Right side, under distributor - D 383 4 16 2 HP. This decodes as D - 1968, 4 16 2 - April 16th 2nd sequence, HP - High Performance. On the left side of the engine: PT 383 H 2454 200. I will supply a photo of the fender tag if requested but the tag detail supports the colour; SS1 yellow, RM21 Road Runner 2 door coupe, and the options; or lack of options as I mentioned, 62 - 383 Hi Perf engine, 3 - 4 speed trans, 416 - produced April 16th, 1968. Please study the attached pictures that detail many of the restoration stages. The front fenders were new. The rear quarters were replaced with new panels that extend from the rear sail panels to the bottom and rear. The door skins were hand made; no reproduction skins were available in 2008, and the rockers; inner and outer, were hand made and replaced along with new rear wheel wells. Nothing was overlooked! The hood was "massaged" to remove any imperfections and the roof and trunk lid are original. Imperfections on the air intake in front of the windshield were properly repaired as well. The interior; front and rear seats, headliner, door panels, and carpet were replaced with new. The wiring is all new, the rubber seals were replaced, all suspension components are new and a new Auburn Posi unit was installed. Brakes, clutch, clutch pressure plate, clutch bearing, and wheel bearings were all replaced. All brake lines and gas lines were replaced along with a new gas tank. All cooling hoses, clamps etc. were replaced as well. The engine was rebuilt before I got it so it only required new gaskets, a new fuel pump, cleaning and painting. The carburetor was rebuilt and a new radiator installed. I did replace the factory distributor; points system, with a newer MOPAR electronic system, The ignition control box is mounted out of view under the battery so that the engine compartment retains a stock look. I did remove the reproduction exhaust mufflers and installed new low noise Flow Masters for a period correct sound. The dash and gauges were not touched during the restoration as reproduction gauges were not available. The gauges and speedo all work but the red pointers are faded. The paint on the top of the dash is also faded. Since 2008 I have obtained new reproduction gauges and a new reproduction lowerdash panel with "factory new" painted letters. I will include these with the sale of the car. The car comes with a set of Torque Thrust wheels and radial tires; currently installed, along with the original steel wheels complete with new reproduction bias ply tires - and of course the orignal "dog dish" hub caps. The original steel wheels were properly sand blasted and painted to match the cars yellow colour. The glass is all original with some light scratches in places but nothing too bad or it would have been replaced. The restoration of this car was well into six figures of cost when completed. Times have changed and I have to let the car go as I do not have the storage space available to keep all the cars I own. As you can see from my previous comments, I've only driven the car 2500 miles since it was restored. Frankly I was always mindful of wear and possible damage when I drove it so it sat in my garage most of its life. A shame as it runs fantastic and is a lot of fun on the road. I've tried to capture all of the details; good and less good, but welcome questions or a direct conversation. The pictures clearly show that all the ugliness that comes with age and the environment, have been properly repaired. The car still looks as good after 7 years with none of the issues that come with haphazard paint and body work. Thank you for reading! ALL questions & queries are welcome. I have many additional pictures that I'd be happy to share. Please note: 1) The buyer will make a PayPal deposit of $1000 withing 24 hours of winning the auction. This deposit will apply to the balance owed but is not refundable under any circumstances. The remaining funds can be delivered in person when the car is picked up or other arrangments can be made. Final and fullpayment is required within 7 days of buyer commitment. The car will not be released to the buyer until final payment is processed. I will happily work with the buyer to arrange shipping and manage any required paperwork. My goal is to achieve a win win for both buyer and myself.
